ORLANDO -- Orlando Magic forward Pat Garrity, 32, has made the toughest call any pro athlete can -- he is retiring fro the NBA.

The Orlando Magic announced the big move for him with a news release in which Garrity said he looks forward to the next challenge in life.

The former Notre Dame sharpshooter will always be remembered as being part of the deal that sent Penny Hardaway to the Phoenix Suns.

Garrity led the Magic in three-point accuracy for four consecutive seasons.

Garrity played 10 pro seasons -- nine with the Magic after spending his rookie year with the Phoenix Suns.

He appeared in 513 games for Orlando, the second most in franchise history.

Garrity averaged 7.3 points in 20 minutes a game. He led Orlando in 3-point shooting from 1999 to 2003.
