There's a major recall involving Ford SUVs.
The motor company is recalling more than 8,000 of its 2013 Escape SUVs. The problem is the carpeting.
Ford said it can get in the way of braking and causes drivers to hit the side of the brake pedal, when switching from the accelerator.
Ford spokeswoman Marcey Zwiebel said it also affected about 2,000 vehicles in Canada and a couple hundred in Mexico.
The recall is expected to begin next week, on July 23.
Drivers will be notified by mail, with instructions on how to get the problem fixed. Owners may call the automaker at 866-436-7332.
Ford sold 28,500 Escapes last month, up 28 percent from June 2011.
Information from the Associated Press was used in this report.
