FCAT FAQ
What is the FCAT?
The Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test is the statewide program, testing students in:
- Writing in grades 4, 8 and 10
- Reading & math in grades 3 through 10
- Science in grades 5, 8 and 11
Why do students take the FCAT?
- Measures achievement of the Sunshine State Standards.
- The plan is to increase student achievement by implementing high standards.
- In the 2010-2011 school year, testing transitioned to the FCAT 2.0, the next generation of Sunshine State Standards.
At what grade levels must students pass the FCAT?
- Grade 3 students must earn a FCAT Reading score of Level 2 or higher to be promoted to grade 4.
- Graduating seniors must pass both Reading & Math of the Grade 10 FCAT to graduate from high school.
