2012 Florida Primary

Now just days away, the Florida primary set for Tuesday night.

The two frontrunners made stops up and down the state trying to drum up last minutes votes.

The Newt Gingrich campaign looked to gain ground on Mitt Romney with close to half a dozen Central Florida stops on Saturday.

Former presidential candidate Herman Cain endorsed Newt Gingrich at the Lincoln Day Dinner in West Palm Beach.

"We are going to do something and we are going to elect Speaker Newt Gingrich as the next president of the United States," said Cain.

More than 1,000 supporters showed up to an earlier stop at the Aloma Church in Winter Park.

Gingrich has touted himself as the only Republican candidate able to beat President Obama and continued his claim despite faltering in the polls behind Mitt Romney in Florida.

“So I believe I have a dramatically better chance of winning this fall than anyone else we could nominate given the current field,” said Gingrich.

Gingrich took the opportunity to try and sway any potential voters from another candidate.

“I have great respect for my good friend Rick Santorum and he is a good person, but the fact is he’s not going to win in Florida, please try and convince your friends the only effective practical conservative vote on Tuesday is for Newt Gingrich.”

Speaker Gingrich took hold of a hot button topic for Floridians and ran with it -- all the way to the moon.

He announced his plan to colonize the moon and create a state within eight years, if elected president.

Some of the first questions from the crowd were about Gingrich's stance on abortion and issues like abortion.

“One of the reasons we have so many abortions is that the federal government funds planned parenthood, I would move actively as president to defund planned parenthood, take all of that money and put it into adoption services so that young women can choose life rather than death,” said Gingrich.

Those in the audience said it’s on issues like abortion that will win him their vote.
