Florida Congressman Alan Grayson is calling for the state Supreme Court to halt all foreclosures from three firms that are currently under investigation for document fraud.
The firms -- Shapiro & Freeman, the Law Offices of David J. Stern and The Law Offices of Marshall C. Watson -- handle about 80 percent of the state's foreclosure business.
In a letter to Florida Chief Justice Charles Canady, Grayson calls for the state to freeze all foreclosure proceedings until the state attorney general finishes his investigation of the firms.
Grayson's letter highlighted a case in Jacksonville in which Chase, Washington Mutual and Shapiro & Freeman attempted to foreclose on a home they didn't even have the mortgage on.
