Sanford man killed in Dubai crash

Last Updated: Sunday, September 05, 2010 5:30 PM

UPS says one of the two crew members killed when one of their cargo planes crashed near Dubai was from Sanford.

First Officer, Matthew Bell, 38, died along with captain Doug Lampe, 48, when the plane went down shortly after takeoff Friday.

Bell joined UPS in 2006. Both crew members flew out of the company's Anchorage, Alaska pilot base.

The National Transportation Safety Board is dispatching an aviation investigation team to assist United Arab Emirates authorities in the investigation of the crash.
