The FAA confirmed to News 13 that one person has died in a plane crash in DeLand.
Two men were inside the single-engine plane that went down around 2:30 p.m. Saturday near International Speedway Boulevard and Garfield Avenue.
The deceased man was identified as Duane Swanson, who was believed to be in his 90s.
Leonard Selover, in his 80s, was airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona in critical condition.
Both men were from DeLand.
Authorities said the single-engine plane clipped a power line and flipped, crashing on U.S. 92. Power was out for at least 200 people in the area. A small grass fire was also ignited in the crash.
Witness Tom Kromhout said the plane hit the ground immediately after striking the power line. He said one man inside the plane was trapped by his seat belt, so Kromhout got out a pocket knife and cut the man free. Several other witnesses also helped.
According to FAA records, the plane was a Cessna 150-h model built in 1968 and was involved in a previous crash in 1997.
