Toads and Diabetes?
There are two new exhibits going on right now at the Orlando Science Center -- where you can learn about more about the two and how to improve your health.
At the Orlando Science Center, on the 2nd floor, the frog exhibit has many species of frogs including a Rococco Toad. It comes from South America and is one of the largest toads in all the world.
Believe it or not you can learn a lot from the frog.
Frogs are an indicator species. In the simplest terms that means environmental changes impact frogs and toads quicker than other species and can teach us a lot about our health.
"There are things that impact beyond changes in the environment like industrialization or pollution -- chemicals getting into the water so if this is impacting frogs--What could it be doing to humans?" Orlando Science Center spokesman Jeff Standford said.
We know what Diabetes is doing to humans. In the United States, a person is diagnosed with diabetes every 21 seconds.
This interactive diabetes exhibit is a hands on learning experience to find out the risk factors for diabetes, lifestyle issue even a singing refrigerator.
Both the Diabetes and the frog exhibit will be there til Monday.
