Mother, child die in crash near the Turnpike

OSCEOLA COUNTY --

A mother and her 2-year-old child were killed when a semi-truck flipped over and crushed their pickup in southern Osceola County.

Highway troopers said the accident happened just after 7 p.m. Wednesday at the ramp to Florida's Turnpike in Yeehaw Junction, near US 441.

A highway patrol spokeswoman said the tractor-trailer was going too fast as it tried to get on the turnpike, causing the trailer to flip over and crush the truck
