After four years of searching, the remains of a 22-year-old woman from the Bahamas have been found in Brevard County.  Cocoa police say a bone was discovered by a detective late Friday night.

Crime scene technicians are several yards back in the woods off state Road 524 in Cocoa sifting through the area where the bone was found.  They are trying to find more remains.

They say preserving any evidence is vital to the criminal case.

Darice Knowles came to the United States for a visit in 2006 and disappeared.

Over the last four years, this case has been considered cold at several points.

Police say it was recent tips from a suspect in the case that pulled all the clues together.

Earlier this week, authorities cleared the brush in the area to look for the body.

After much investigation, a foot bone was discovered late Friday night.

Authorities say giving this young woman's family peace has been their top priority.

"Part of the thing that has kept us driven for the last four years to find her body was the fact that we wanted to give the family closure,” said Barbara Matthews, Cocoa Police Department.  “Of course, after we do what we need to do, everything will be turned over to the family so they can give her a proper burial."

Law enforcement officials say they think there are several suspects involved, however, at this time no one has been arrested.

Police say they brought a suspect out to the scene to help find where Knowles’ body was located.

Police say they're relieved to have solved this case.
