- RAW VIDEO: Bomb squad responds to the scene
A Palm Bay teen, who police say has mental issues, prompts a search for bombs in a neighborhood.
Investigators said the 15-year-old boy was taken into custody Thursday night, and during questioning told them he had been making bombs, including two in the woods near the intersection of Hagoplan Avenue and Ladyslipper Street on the city's southwest side.
They said his knowledge of bomb-making was credible enough for them to call in the bomb squad and search the wooded area.
An officer in protective gear checked for any sign of the bombs, but nothing turned up.
The search was called off shortly before 8 p.m. Friday.
The teen has been Baker Acted. He still may face charges.
