The Daytona Beach firefighter arrested earlier this week and accused of raping a tourist turned himself in Friday after police issued a second arrest warrant. He was later released on bail.
Adam Silva, 30, was arrested earlier this week after a tourist vacationing in Daytona Beach claimed he raped her on May 19 and abandoned her in a part of the city without her purse and her cell phone. She said Silva told her she would end up like Natalee Holloway.
The victim discovered she was pregnant. A DNA match identified Silva as the father. He was arrested and later released on bond.
The victim had an abortion.
Police said after the report, two women came forward Thursday.
One said Silva also tried to rape her the same day, May 19, after the tourist was attacked.
In the second incident, the woman said Silva came to her door early on the morning of May 19. Police said she heard a noise and approached the door with a handgun after the doorbell rang.
He identified himself, and the woman told detectives she opened the door because she knew him.
According to the police report, Silva stepped inside and exposed himself by pulling his pants down.
After an argument and fight that included throwing a chair and bar stool, the woman ran to her bedroom to get a second handgun. He grabbed her, threw her on the bed and tried to rape her, the report said.
Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood believes more victims may be out there because of claims another woman has made that Silva has a list.
"He had a thumb drive and she witnessed it and had her name on it where he listed all of his sexual conquests," Chitwood said.
But the case has taken on a bizarre twist.
Chitwood received a phone call from the first victim Friday. She told Chitwood someone called her on the cell phone she lost the night she was raped.
He said someone is intimidating the victim, telling her that she is smearing the integrity of the firefighter.
"I have no doubt in my mind that there's a Daytona Beach firefighter that has that phone, that has that camera, trying to contact this victim. And God help him if he gets it,” Chitwood said. “This is absolutely witness intimidation.”
Chitwood says the person calling has the number blocked on his cell phone.
A representative with the city says the U.S. Marshall has been called in to help with technology that can obtain blocked cell phone numbers.
Officers obtained a search warrant for Silva's house and fire department locker.
Police will not say if they got any evidence during the searches.
Silva, a five-year veteran, is suspended without pay during the investigation.
