The FDLE is investigating a Volusia County Sheriff’s deputy after he was involved in a third shooting of a suspect in less than four months.

Wednesday's incident came after a domestic dispute inside a Deltona home.

Caller: My dad just shot my mom in the arm.  He's got a gun and…

Operator: and he what?

Caller: And he doesn't have a license for it. He got his license revoked two years ago."

Sislyn Gonsalves was taken to the hospital in Orange City.

The Volusia County Sheriff''s Office said Clayton Gonsalves, 48, walked out of his house armed, and according to deputies, fired several shots in the air.

They said Gonsalves raised his arm holding the weapon when deputies opened fire, striking him twice.

He was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center in serious condition.

FDLE is investigating this third incident while Sgt. Vidal Mejias is on administrative leave with pay for a third time.

According to a sheriff's office representative, FDLE's investigations into the first two incidents Mejias was involved in have not been completed.

The first incident was April 14 in Deltona during a drug raid. The suspect aimed a weapon at Mejias and he shot back injuring him.

The second was May 10 during a domestic dispute. The suspect aimed a shotgun at Mejias who shot back, injuring him.

No one from the sheriff's office would go on camera, but they said all three shooting incidents were justified because a firearm was pointed at the deputy.

The sheriff's office said Mejias returned to work several days after both shootings.

The sheriff’s office said Clayton Gonsalves was airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach.  His current condition has not been released.

His wife’s injuries are not life threatening.
