Accused killer pushes insanity defense

Last Updated: Thursday, July 29, 2010 2:48 PM

Lawyers for a man accused of killing an elderly couple outside a Target store last year have filed papers claiming insanity.

The defense attorneys for 26-year-old Jonathan Levy filed a notice with the court, that they plan to rely on the insanity defense.

Levy is facing two counts of premeditated murder after investigators say he stabbed an elderly couple outside the Target store in Mount Dora in April of last year.

The victims, 80-year-old Philip Heintzen and his wife 69-year-old Sandra Heintzen reportedly tried to fight off the attack.
