A firefighter is free on $10,000 bond and facing a charge of sexual battery of a woman who said she is pregnant with the man's child.
Adam Silva, 30, is charged with the May 19 assault of a woman along Berkshire Road.
The victim told police in June that she is pregnant with Silva's child.
In a statment released Wednesday, Fire Chief James Bland said Silva is on personal leave and not on duty.
"As the internal review has just begun, no action will take place until the appropriate time," Bland said. "We will not have any further comment until the review is complete."
Police found the victim nude from the waist down wandering along Essex Road early that morning and transported her to a Volusia County Rape Crisis Center for treatment.
According to a police report, Silva was identified in a security tape when he was buying the woman drinks at a Daytona Beach bar> he came into the bar with another Daytona Beach firefighter.
In the report, the woman told police he threatened to kill her and warned her that she could be the next Natalee Holloway, a high school student who disappeared in Aruba.
Silva was taken into custody after investigators found a match between DNA taken from Silva and from the woman.
