Officials in Brevard County are investigating a house fire that may have started in a child’s bedroom.
Fire crews were called out to the home, on the 3200 block of Pheasant Trail, just before 9 a.m. Friday.
A car was found parked in the driveway, but firefighters said no one was home when the fire started.
A smoke alarm inside the house went off and notified authorities.
Officials said the three children who live in the home were at school, and their parents were not home.
One cat died in the fire, but crews were able to save the family’s pet ferrets.
Authorities said the fire significantly damaged the home.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
