A Gainesville church that plans to burn copies of the Quran on Sept. 11 still plans to do so, despite being denied a permit by the city.

The Dove World Outreach Center plans to burn copies of the Islamic holy book to mark the ninth anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Gainesville's fire chief said an open burning of books is not allowed in the city, and he said the church will be fined if it goes forward with its plan.
