“During breaking news, there is the intensity to get the story on air quickly and accurately. It is my responsibility to make sure viewers get the facts and the whole story.”
In his time here, Adam led News 13’s coverage of the Casey Anthony murder case and trial. Throughout the case Adam repeatedly brought our viewers exclusive stories and unique perspective.
Adam is also a key player in News 13’s commitment to political coverage. He tracked the Republican presidential candidates all over the state in the days leading up to the Florida primary.
Adam Longo came to News 13 as Weekend Anchor in June 2009. Prior to News 13, Adam worked as a reporter for the CBS affiliate in Orlando. He has also worked as an anchor in Knoxville, Tenn. at WATE, the ABC affiliate as well as WVIR, the NBC affiliate in Charlottesville, Va. and as a reporter in Chattanooga, Tenn. His first on-air job was as a traffic reporter for a cable channel covering the DC metro area as well as Maryland and Virginia suburbs.
Adam attended the University of Maryland in College Park and graduated with a double major in journalism and political science. While in college, Adam had the opportunity to intern at NewsChannel 8 in Washington.
Adam chose a journalism career because of his extremely inquisitive nature. He works hard to uncover all the facts of story so that people watching at home can truly feel like they get the complete story.
“I don’t hesitate to challenge anyone on why they would interfere with the public’s access to information they have a right to know about.”
Adam and his wife, Melissa, live in the Lake Nona area with their daughter Lucia and two very active beagles. When he is not working, you can typically find Adam running around somewhere. He’s an active marathon runner and spends time training with the Lake Nona YMCA triathlon team “Team Vortex.” Adam also coaches his neighborhood softball team.
And speaking of sports, Adam is a huge NASCAR fan. In fact, Adam hasn’t missed a race at Daytona International Speedway since moving to Florida. With all of the attractions and a vibrant downtown, it’s no wonder that Adam is happy to call Central Florida home.
