At 11 p.m. EDT, Josephine weakens to a tropical depression.
At 11 p.m. EDT, the center of Tropical Depression Josephine was located near latitude 16.3 north, longitude 35.8 west or about 785 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands.
The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 7 mph, and this general motion is expected to continue with an increase in forward speed during the next couple of days.
Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours.
Estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb or 29.71 inches.
The next advisory will be issued by the National Hurricane Center at 5 a.m. EDT.
