ORLANDO -- The question on the minds of many Central Floridians is "Will Fay come knocking at our door?"

Agencies across Central Florida are not taking any chances, and are making sure they are ready if and when the storm hits.

Over the last few days, emergency management systems have been checked, inventories confirmed and equipment inspected. This includes drainage systems and traffic control devices.  Even lake levels are being monitored to pinpoint flooding risks.

"We've got a lot of people that are new to the area, not ready or prepared. Hurricane shutters, basic essentials gas cans, food," said Kevin Meier, manager of the Home Depot in Orlando.

Meier said shoppers are taking the threat of Fay in stride as they stock up on supplies.

Progress Energy reported its entire workforce is ready to mobilize this week.

Fay Leaves Some Stumped With Tree Trouble

Hurricane Charley hit way back in 2004, but it could still cause big damage to your home this week.

Charley, Francis and Jeanne left trees all over Central Florida damaged but not dead.

Since then, those trees have died.  Experts said Fay could send those dead trees crashing down.  And many of those trees are right next to homes.

Experts said your best bet is to try and get them cut down before Fay hits.  Even a weak storm can topple the trees.

Warning signs include moss and vines covering the tree.

Tree trimmers will be working right up until Fay hits.

In Ship Shape For Fay

Boaters at Gator Bay Marina have been working all weekend to make sure their boats stay safe during the storm, even if it's something as simple as making sure boats are tied up.

Marina employees said they also help out by keeping an eye on things.  They said if water levels get too high, they take extra precautions, like adding more coverage to boats, to make sure they stay safe.

However, some aren't too worried about damage and said Fay might just be a flop.

"I think it'll ride things out pretty well.  These are pretty sturdy and it's tied if something happens.  I think it'll be alright," said Jack English, who was preparing his boat for the storm.

Lake County Emergency Management officials said they will pay close attention to Fay's activity.

They've already started preparing the county's Emergency Operations Center and will send out alerts to residents as they become available.

Beware Of Price Gougers

The state has set up a price-gouging hotline, warning residents to be on the lookout for anyone trying to make a profit off of Tropical Storm Fay.

The number to call is (866) 9-NO-SCAM -- that's (866) 966-7226.

It is illegal under Florida law to impose extreme price increases for food, water, ice, gas or hotel rooms.

Business As Usual At Theme Parks

Orlando's theme parks are all operating normally Sunday, but all are closely monitoring Fay's progress.

Officials at Walt Disney World said it is business as usual, but they are monitoring the storm.

Universal Orlando Resort officials said they, too, were operating normally, and will make the necessary changes if the storm poses a threat.

At Sea World, officials said they would move smaller mammals and birds indoors if Fay impacts the area.
