ORLANDO -- Experts said 40 percent of hurricane victims could have been saved if they would have prepared.
To try and make sure more people are ready for the upcoming hurricane season, Orange County officials set up their 2008 hurricane expo.
More than 20 booths on a wide variety of topics were put on display at the Fashion Square Mall.
Experts manning those booths said some of the best ways for people to survive a hurricane is to create a disaster kit, make sure they have an escape route mapped out and to make sure any pets have been fitted with a microchip.
"it's very inexpensive and it's the difference of us finding your dog and contacting you within five minutes or possibly not finding your dog again," said Mark Merritt from Orange County Animal Services.
The hurricane expo runs until Sunday, June 8.
