Chris, while both can produce strong storms, cold fronts usually have a bigger impact on the displacement of air. Cold fronts push or lift the warmer air its replacing more quickly than a warm front. The rapid rise of air helps produce heavy downpours and the gusty winds that can lead to strong or severe weather.
