What is "civil twilight"?

"Civil twilight" is the time at dawn and dusk where the sun is still up to six degrees below the horizon.
During those times, we are able to see the horizon, and also see the brightest stars. We are also able to move around without the use of any man-made light sources, such as flashlights.
