What is the hottest temperature ever recorded on Earth?

Michelle, in 1922, the temperature reached 136 degrees in the Libyan part of the Sahara Desert. It’s probably been even warmer in other parts of the Sahara, but there aren’t weather stations everywhere. In the U.S., the hottest temperature occurred in California’s Death Valley in 1933 -- a blistering 134 degrees.
