Why are some clouds black?
--Bob, Daytona Beach
From the ground, we usually see clouds that are white, or somewhat gray. That’s because the sun’s light is able to -- at least partially -- shine through.
As a cloud holds more moisture, the sunlight isn’t able to pass through as easily, and as a result, those clouds above you are much darker.
