Your Technology, News 13's Al Ruechel
Have you ever wished you had a copy of a great speech you heard from a politician, or wanted to find out first hand what some president said about a topic?
News 13's Al Ruechel has a Web site that catalogues great speeches back to Abraham Lincoln and beyond.
The name of the Web site is AmericanRhetoric.com.
It was created by a University of Texas Tyler professor as a tribute to the power of the written and spoken word.
What the professor has done is catalogue literally thousands of political speeches from our presidents, lawmakers, and other important American figures -- Republican, Democrat, Independent, you name it.
They are listed alphabetically.
The site also has the top 100 speeches, nearly all delivered by the men and women who wrote them, such as Martin Luther King, Jr., Franklin Delano Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy Jr.
It even has current political candidates, such as Barack Obama.
You'll also find a written copy of the speech, authenticated through several sources to make sure it's correct.
There are written copies of other famous speeches delivered before the age of recording devices.
