Credit card debt -- everyone's got it, nobody wants it, but what can you do to get rid of it?

Well, today's technology piece shows you a way you can help lower it, and maybe even get rid of it.

The name of the Web site is CardRatings.com

It is run by a not-for-profit group and headed up by a guy who got himself $40,000 in credit card debit before he turned it around.

What this Web site does is compare hundreds of credit cards and then rates them based on dozens of criteria, including 0% low intro, cash back, limited or no credit, low rate, airline and travel, business and student.

For example:

Under low rate, the Capital One card charges 7.99 percent, compared to standard cards that charge between 10.99 and 18.99 percent.

Low rate cards are good for folks who carry over a balance.

The best cash-back card is the Discover More card. It has 5 percent cash back and up to 20 percent on certain online shopping sites. It is good for folks who pay off their balances every month.

The Citi Professional is considered one of the best 0 percent low introductory, but it is not advised for people with poor or no credit.

Here's another very helpful feature:  Consumer reviews by company name.

One consumer was shocked when American Express increased her credit line by $40,000 when she only asked for $500.

There is another section with those same consumer reviews, except by card type.

There was one person who was surprised to find certain restaurants and even department stores give on-the-spot cash back on certain credit cards.

There is also a helpful section with straight answers about credit in general.

The mission of this site is to assist consumers who have become enslaved by credit card debt.
