Knock on wood, I think you will find OldSuperstitions.com entertaining.
The superstitions are catalogued by topic. Some you'll recognize, others you may not.
For example: Good luck superstitions -- speaking of knocking on wood, it was believed that good spirits lived in trees, and knocking on anything made of wood called upon the tree spirits to protect against misfortune.
A naked woman on a boat is said to calm the seas -- and drive any guys passing by crazy.
Under the category of wedding superstitions, the spouse who gets to sleep first on the wedding day will be the first to die. How morbid. No wonder nobody sleeps on the honeymoon.
Or, if a single woman sleeps with a piece of wedding cake under her pillow, she will dream of her future husband -- and have a mess to clean up in the morning.
Under hair superstitions, if you do not cover your bald head, it will start raining. I guess it should be raining more at Tampa Bay Bucs games!
Under animal superstitions, a dog eating grass means rain. It also means you will have a mess to clean up in your house soon.
If a bee enters your home, it is a sign you will soon have a visitor -- but if you kill the bee, it is bad luck. If a bee settles on someone's head, that person will rise to greatness -- unless, of course, you get stung, and then the only thing rising is the welt on your skin.
