Kurt the Cyberguy, Your Technology
TV's top psychologist, Dr. Phil McGraw, has turned tech.
"This season, I unveiled my new Web site, and we have a live webcam feature as well," Dr. Phil said.
That is just the beginning. His wife, Robin, takes on questions and answers via the site.
The dynamic duo welcomed Kurt the Cyberguy into the "Dr. Phil" studio, making room on the sofa made famous for doling out "Dr. Philisms."
Talk about embracing technology! The "Dr. Phil" house is rigged to the high-tech hilt with cameras, and is even equipped with a "Dr. Phil Now" command center.
"This is where I will cover the stories, events and breaking news that impacts you," Dr. Phil explained.
That is the show. How about at home?
"We have a pretty computer-intense area in the house," Dr. Phil said.
"We actually recorded all of our audio books at home," Robin McGraw added.
When asked where they write, Dr. Phil replied, "Robin has some different methods, but for me, I have voice recognition on my computer, so I can talk to the computer and let it do the typing, and then go back. Now, it hasn't caught up with my accent, yet."
He then went on to talk about his feeling of depency for his Blackberry.
"You know, they call them 'Crackberries,' because if you don't have it, you go into withdrawal and shaking, and it gets you quick," Dr. Phil said.
He also mentioned that Robin did not own a Blackberry for a couple of years, and now she is rarely without it.
"I used to make fun of him, because he had his with him at all times, and I called it a pacifier, almost," Robin McGraw joked.
"I think there is a point in which technology does get in the way. That's the abuse, not the use, of it," Dr. Phil said. "The tools are great. It's just how we manage them."
