ORLANDO -- BHSN has learned that UCF's starting quarterback and running back are both unlikely to play in Saturday's game at No. 2 Texas.
A source tells BHSN’s David Baumann that quarterback Brett Hodges has sore ribs and was receiving as many as six hours of treatment each day this week. Hodges was also seen walking gingerly around the UCF sports complex this week.
As for running back Brynn Harvey, BHSN college football analyst and former UCF quarterback Kyle Israel saw the sophomore practicing Thursday with the team and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. He had been previously been nicked up a few times this season, and has only missed a few plays due to injuries.
Hodges, a senior transfer from Wake Forest and a graduate of Winter Springs High School, has thrown for 1,558 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He led the Knights (5-3) to a comeback 21-20 win over Marshall last Sunday with 342 yards passing and two touchdowns.
Harvey, a graduate of Largo High School, has rushed for 679 yards and seven touchdowns in 2009.
