TAMPA BAY -- In a surprise move by the Green Bay Packers and Brett Favre, the legendary quarterback will not be going to the Bucs, but to the Jets.
The Packers had been talking with the New York Jets and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the services of the three-time most valuable player since deciding that Favre and the team couldn't co-exist.
Favre's agent, James "Bus" Cook" confirmed the deal.
"All he wanted to do is play for the Packers and be their quarterback, and they just adamantly, they didn't want him," Cook said.
Terms of the trade weren't immediately available.
The Packers decided to move forward with Aaron Rodgers as their starter after Favre announced his retirement in March.
