Shake-Up In Store For The Budweiser Shootout?
Monday, July 07, 2008 9:13:56 PM
DAYTONA BEACH -- NASCAR has this unspoken policy for certain.
Stock car racing is a sport that reserves the right to change the names of its events seemingly at a moment's notice.
There's a chance the annual running of the Budweiser Shootout at Daytona International Speedway could play the name game too.
The non-points race has been the season starter for NASCAR's premiere series since 1979 when it was known as the Busch Clash.
Sources tell News 13 that routine negotiations are underway for naming rights to the 2009 race, and it's not yet certain that Budweiser will return as title sponsor.
The King of Beers moved in as the Shootout sponsor in 1998.
