Rivers Talent Doesn't Fall Far From The Tree

There is no denying that the Rivers family is talented.

Doc Rivers is a former professional basketball player and current head coach of the NBA champion Boston Celtics. His daughter,  Callie, is a volleyball player at the University of Florida, and his son, Austin, is a promising young basketball player.

Austin Rivers, at age 15, is already hinting that he wants to follow in his sister's footsteps in becoming a Gator.

"It's nice to know they're Gators. You know, we're Florida people now and so it's good that they're staying in state and playing. Austin loves Billy, so I'm really looking forward to it. He's fun to watch and he likes playing and I'm happy for that. I just love  when kids do whatever they choose and like doing," Doc Rivers said.

Austin is well on-track in following his dad's path to the glory road.

"I try to be as much like him as I can. I just chose to keep it going. Maybe I can one day do what he did -- my little brother (and) my older brother, we all wear (jersey number) 25. (We're) trying to keep it going," Austin Rivers said.

"One good thing about Austin is that he's very patient. He lets the game come to him and I think that just comes from being around his dad. He's kind of always been the youngest guy on our team, so he's always been a student of the game. He lets the game come to him and that's what makes him a good player," praised Therion Joseph, the head coach of Austin's travel team, Team Stat.

Like father, like son. Even at 15 years old, Austin shows the leadership ability that served his dad so well in the NBA as a player and coach.

Though Austin won't be a Gator until 2011, one thing is for sure -- Florida is home to the Rivers family.
