ORLANDO -- The Orlando Magic's big 102-87 win Tuesday against the Toronto Raptors came despite the fact that one of their former first-rounders is still sitting on the bench.
News 13 sports reporter Jon Hirozawa talked to both J.J. Redick and his coach, Stan Van Gundy, about the prospect of Redick seeing any time on the hardwood.
With some of the Magic guards either banged up or recovering from illness, some thought Redick would see some playing time against the Toronto Raptors, but that was not the case.
Redick has played in a couple of games, but one game was a blowout and the other was just in garbage time. However, it appears Redick has accepted his role.
"We've talked and he's made it clear that I'm not going to be in the rotation. There's nothing I can do. Right now I'm just thinking about my future and I'm working for that more so than trying to get in the rotation. I don't think I'll be here a long time. I think Stan is going to be here a long time and his philosophy and my phillosophy don't really go together," Redick told Hirozawa.
"I think everybody on your bench has to be ready and I have great confidence in him. I put him in the Philly game, then he didn't play the other night until the game was decided so we didn't really change anything tonight," Van Gundy said.
Even Marcin Gortat played 37 seconds in the Raptors game, but with all the guards on the Magic right now it seems playing time is going to be hard to come by for Redick.
