Rollins College continues to be one of college basketball's standout programs, and point guard Jonny Reibel is worth the price of gold.
Reibel is great at making buckets look easy. He is one of the best players in the country on the Division II level.
Reibel's steadily increasing production on the basketball court has him well on his way to an All-American selection. He has drawn comparisons to two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash.
"It's awesome to be compared to him," Reibel said. "I want to go out there, play my best and make my teammates better."
"Everyone calls him 'Steve Nash.' He plays like it," said Reibel's teammate and roommate, Craig Reichel.
Nobody knows Reibel like Reichel does. The pair grew up together near Chicago. They are the best of friends and the leaders of the Tars team.
Reichel expected Reibel to get a shot at the pros once the college days are over.
"Who knows? After this, he might get a call and a tryout in the NBA. I mean, I definitely think somewhere overseas at least," Reichel said.
"I want to go to Europe, hopefully," Reibel said. "I'm just focused on this year, but I definitely have hopes of going to Europe to play."
"We're not looking forward to the day he's done, but what a career, and we're enjoying it while we have him.," said Tom Klusman, who is in his 28th year as Rollins' head coach.
In the storied tradition of the Tars basketball program, there has never been a jersey retired to hang at Warden Arena, but if there were to be, Coach Klusman said, "Jonny would certainly be a worthy candidate."
