In spite of some campaigning from friends and family, it appears Mike Griffin will not be staying on as NASA administrator in Barack Obama's administration.
Griffin is planning on leaving office on Jan. 20. That's despite his wife's public comments urging people to sign an online petition supporting her husband as the top man at NASA. Read Story.
There's already a lot of talk about who will replace Griffin.
Published reports said former astronaut Charlie Bolden is a leading candidate. Bolden flew four times on the space shuttle, including the mission to deploy the Hubble Space Telescope.
It's unclear yet if the Obama administration will continue President Bush's ambitious space plans, including a return to the moon and an eventual manned trip to Mars.
