KENNEDY SPACE CENTER -- NASA said it plans to extend space shuttle Discovery's mission by a day.
Discovery was originally set for a 13-day mission. But NASA managers decided to tack on an extra day to do more work on the International Space Station.
Meanwhile, engineers said so far this mission has had the fewest pre-launch maintenance issues than any other shuttle in the program's 27-year history.
Engineers credit this on improvements to fixing recurring problems.
Discovery's launch is set for May 31 at 5:02 p.m.
