CAPE CANAVERAL -- NASA is giving us an early peek into the space program with the release of newly restored video taken decades ago.
The video features clips of the Gemini, Mercury and Apollo Missions and even shows Ed White performing the United States' first space walk, and the first-ever propelled space walk.
The rare footage was seen at a gathering in Washington Tuesday.
NASA worked with the Discovery Channel late last year to convert 50 years of video from the nation's space agency to high definition, preserving it for future generations.

"When We Left Earth: The NASA Missions" will air as a six-hour special on consecutive Sundays, June 8, 15, and 27.
