CAPE CANAVERAL -- Space Shuttle Discovery embarked on its super-slow trek to the launch pad early Saturday morning and is now nestled in its temporary home at Launch Pad 39A.
The shuttle started moving at midnight at a speed of 1 mph, and arrived on the pad -- 3.4 miles away -- at 4:25 a.m. It was secured by 6:06 a.m. Saturday.
Discovery is targeted to launch on May 31 at 5:02 p.m., when it will embark on a 13-day mission to the International Space Station.
Discovery will be transporting part of the Japanese Kibo lab to the ISS.
Three 6.5-hour spacewalks are planned to install Kibo. This flight is the heaviest to the station, including two robotic arms which will support operations outside the Kibo module. The mission is the first time three robotic arms will be operated during a spaceflight
As always, you can watch the launch live on News 13.
