DELAND -- A plan to stretch the dollar in local elections continued gaining momentum in Volusia County.
Supervisor of elections Ann McFall estimated the county's 16 cities could save a combined $300,000 if they switched their dates to coincide with federal and state elections in November.
McFall planned to tour the cities of Volusia County to explain the difficulty the current, odd-numbered-year elections posed to her department.
About 10 cities expressed interest in moving the dates, but none has officially switched.
There were some logistics to be worked out, like figuring out when terms would expire for current elected officials.
