ORLANDO -- Over 100 voters rallied in Orlando Saturday morning to show the Democratic National Committee they want action on seating Florida delegates.

"Our hope is that our voice will be heard among those who make the decisions in our party. This is about democracy. This is about counting every vote and not disenfranchising Florida voters," said Jessy Hamilton, of the organization Florida Demands Representation.

The group coordinating this event sent affidavits to Washington asking the committee to seat all of Florida's super delegates and half of its pledged delegates from the Jan. 29 primary at the national convention in August.

They collected more signatures at the rally.

"The general feeling is if our votes are not counted and our delegates are not seated, there could be severe repurcussions for the Democratic party in this state," Hamilton said.

Hamilton said Democratic leaders should be worried how their decisions will affect the young voting population..

"It's the type of thing that tempts me to be more apathetic in the general election," said Thomas Fincannon.

Fincannon is a University of Central Florida graduate student who says that if his vote doesn't count and their delegates aren't seated at the Democratic national convention, he would consider voting Republican in the general election out of protest.

"Denying 1.7 florida voters, Democratic voters, just because they held their primary a week early, that just doesn't make sense to me, and I'm a little in shock. I was in shock," Fincannon said.

Florida Demands Representation plans to host another rally on May 31. They are also planning a bus trip on April 30 to Washington DC to protest on the steps of the Democratic National Committee.

The protest bus leaves Orlando for the nation's capital on April 28. All expenses for this trip -- including hotel and food -- are paid.
