ORLANDO -- Orange County sheriff's deputies said they do not have any new leads in the case of Caylee Anthony's disappearance, but they have been able to rule out one promising tip of a sighting of the missing 2-year-old at Orlando International Airport.
An eyewitness reported seeing Caylee at the airport, saying the little girl even said her name was, indeed, Caylee Marie Anthony. See previous story.
It was the break in the case the Anthony family was hoping for, but investigators told News 13 the eyewitness was mistaken, that the age of the little girl at the airport did not match up with Caylee's.
Orange County Sheriff's Office spokesman Carlos Padilla said it was just one of many tips they have received from all over the country that has not panned out to anything.
"We have sightings in California. We've had them north, we've had them south, we've had them in the midwest states," Padilla said.
Deputies told News 13 they have gotten several hundred tips, but the one person they need to talk -- Casey Anthony -- has not.
Detectives are negotiating with Casey's lawyer to see if they can talk with her.
"I think if she would be forthcoming, we would know where Caylee is right now, and that hasn't happened," Padilla said.
Instead, investigators continue following up with the limited physical evidence they do have, including the car driven by Casey Anthony
Investigators are awaiting lab tests on a mysterious stain found in the trunk of the car, but Padilla said even if the lab tests come back positive, it would still not be the break they need, as lab tests may not necessarily say the stain belongs to Caylee.
The search continues with help from victim advocate groups, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the FBI to bring Caylee home.
