Helping The Fire Victims, Firefighters

Brevard County Red Cross

The Red Cross in Brevard County is helping evacuees at the Our Lady of Grace Church, located at 300 Malabar Rd. 

A specific fund has been established by the national Red Cross for the Florida Wildfires fires at the American Red Cross. To make a donation, call (800) RED CROSS and specify the fund, "Florida Wildfires."

You can also donate by visiting their Web site at www.americanredcross.org and choosing Mid-Florida Region Wildfires on the donation page.


The Melbourne Fire Department is accepting donations of water for the firefighters of the Palm Bay/Malabar fire complex at any fire station.

Community Educators Credit Union

The Community Educators Credit Union is teaming up with United Way of Brevard to accept donations for victims of the Palm Bay fires at all seven branch locations across Brevard County.

Donations may be made in cash, check, or by using by a credit card (Visa and MasterCard only). The United Way fund gives 100 percent of ALL donations to emergency relief.

Starting May 15, the Community Educators Credit Union is opening up a business office from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for victims in its Palm Bay Branch complete with telephone and internet access. Victims and their families can use the business office to notify loved ones across the country as well as contact insurance companies for reporting purposes.

Community Educators Credit Union welcomes the fire victims to a light dinner Wednesday, May 14 at 1325 Palm Bay Road, Melbourne from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. for those displaced from the fires.

Non-perishable items are also being accepted at any branch of Community Educators Credit Union in Brevard County or the Cocoa Beach Area Chamber of Commerce to be distributed to the United Way. Supplies needed are sun block; bug spray; water; blankets. Donations of water, socks, Chapstick, and sunscreen can be made for firefighters. 


United Way of Brevard

The United Way of Brevard has established the 2008 Fire Response Fund to assist families impacted by the fires raging in south Brevard. Contributions of cash or checks are being accepted at any:

  • Space  County Credit Union
  • Community Educators Credit Union
  • KSC Federal Credit Union

Checks should be made payable to United Way 2008 Fire Response Fund.
