ORLANDO -- Transportation Security Administration employees continued to keep a close eye on suspicious items at Orlando International Airport, but now they have also begun focusing on suspicious behavior.

In airports across the country -- including Orlando -- the TSA said it planned to beef up security by keeping passengers mellow.

The TSA said it would use mellow music, cool spectrum lighting and snappy graphics, all aimed at making checkpoints calmer. The theory was that an agitated terrorist would stand out in an otherwise calm crowd.

"Our technology will not allow us to detect many types of bombs today, so the best way to find a bomb is by looking in the eyes of the bomber, and  so we want to get those TSA people out there," said Randall Larsen, author of the book "Our Own Worst Enemy: Asking the Right Questions About Security To Protect You, Your Family, and America."

Screeners have begun training on how to deal with travelers, even uncooperative and abusive ones.

The TSA said much of the technology terrorists use is extremely sophisticated, so going back to the basics -- like fundamental human behavior -- could be the best way to keep everyone safe.

"Our work is easier, because then they cooperate, they do what we ask them to do, and they actually help us to do what w e are there to achieve," said Rafi Ron, with New Age Security Solutions.

Officials said a 300-foot perimeter was established around the checked bag and parts of OIA's Terminal A were evacuated after TSA officials said they found suspicious items in a man's checked bag. See related story.

The bomb squad was also on site.

Flight operations continued to run, and both checkpoints remained open.
