  • Pencil sharpener (the ones with a top for shavings can be a lot less messy)
  • Highlighters
  • Large pink eraser
  • Box of crayons
  • Water-based markers
  • Water color paints
  • Notebooks
  • 3-ring binder
  • Loose-leaf notebook paper
  • Pocket folders
  • Drawing paper
  • Construction paper
  • A ruler with English and metric measurements
  • White glue
  • Glue sticks (at least 3 for the year)
  • Scissors (blunt end for young children, sharper points for older children)
  • Scotch tape
  • Stapler
  • Tissues
  • Small bottle of hand sanitizer
  • A backpack (some schools do not permit rolling backpacks because of space considerations)

Older Students

Students in middle school and high school will need a lot of the things younger children need, but there are some special needs:

• Calendar to manage their time and schedule their activities and assignments
• 2 combination locks (for the hall locker and gym locker)
• Binder dividers (ones with pockets are good for loose papers)
• Several 3-ring binders
• Manilla folders
• Pens
• Ruled and unruled index cards
• Calculator. Check with teachers to see how complicated the calculator needs to be. Some classes may require graphing calculators, while others may not need it.
