We have a list of common supplies your child may need for the new school year. Just print it out before you go shopping and you will have a good starting point for your excursion.
Elementary School Supplies
- Ballpoint pens
- No. 2 pencils
- Colored pencils
- Pencil sharpener (the ones with a top for shavings can be a lot less messy)
- Highlighters
- Large pink eraser
- Box of crayons
- Water-based markers
- Water color paints
- Notebooks
- 3-ring binder
- Loose-leaf notebook paper
- Pocket folders
- Drawing paper
- Construction paper
- A ruler with English and metric measurements
- White glue
- Glue sticks (at least 3 for the year)
- Scissors (blunt end for young children, sharper points for older children)
- Scotch tape
- Stapler
- Tissues
- Small bottle of hand sanitizer
- A backpack (some schools do not permit rolling backpacks because of space considerations)
Older Students
Students in middle school and high school will need a lot of the things younger children need, but there are some special needs:
• Calendar to manage their time and schedule their activities and assignments
• 2 combination locks (for the hall locker and gym locker)
• Binder dividers (ones with pockets are good for loose papers)
• Several 3-ring binders
• Manilla folders
• Pens
• Ruled and unruled index cards
• Calculator. Check with teachers to see how complicated the calculator needs to be. Some classes may require graphing calculators, while others may not need it.
