PORT CANAVERAL -- Hurricane Bill is blowing bucks into Brevard County as rough seas push a massive cruise ship into Port Canaveral for an unscheduled stop.
The Caribbean Princess had to stop at Port Canaveral instead of heading to Puerto Rico and St. Thomas because of the projected bad weather.
Passengers spent the day in Brevard County.
Many were taking taxis, shuttles and buses to Kennedy Space Center, Cocoa Village, Cocoa Beach and the Merritt Island Square Mall. Businesses owners are happy to have them.
"It's always exciting when a port of call comes in because you have the opportunity to service 3,000 to 3,500 people unexpectedly," said Margaret Bodchon, of Sunward Tours.
Many of the passengers News 13 spoke with were very unhappy about the diversion to Port Canaveral.
They said they paid for a Caribbean trip and didn't get one. The ship is now headed back to New York.
As for Hurricane Bill, that storm continues to churn up the Atlantic.
