ORLANDO -- An attempted home invasion in Orange County ended with two people shot Friday morning.
Deputies said the two juvenile suspects went into the garage of a home on Country Run Parkway, armed with an AK-47 and a sawed-off shotgun.
The two confronted a woman sitting in the garage, but she called to other family members in the home.
The rest of the family entered the garage and started fighting with the suspects, when two family members, ages 17 and 22, were shot in their legs.
The victims are expected to be OK, but the incident has neighbors in the normally quiet area shaken.
“They’re beautiful people,” said Gisela Rosario, a neighbor of the victims. “The kids don’t get in trouble. They’re good people -- that’s the grandmom, the daughter and the kids -- and it was a surprise to me to see something like that.”
The suspects were caught after they passed a deputy cruiser while trying to get away.
They face armed burglary charges, but not home invasion charges because they never actually got all the way inside the home.
