ORLANDO -- The trial of alleged off-duty cop killer Davin Smith continued Monday at the Orange County Courthouse.
Smith is being charged with killing former Orlando police officer Al Gordon, 52, outside of a Bank of America ATM in 2007.
Roblo Johnson, a long-time friend and roommate of Hugo Terry, the man who was prosecuted two weeks ago for driving Smith to and from the scene, took the stand to give his testimony.
Johnson recalled the events after Terry and Smith returned home and they began discussing the events. After hearing what had happened, Johnson asked Smith to leave his home.
According to Johnson, who only knew the alleged gunman for about a month, Smith returned and said it wasn't supposed to happen this way, it was all in self-defense.
"He was saying the other guy pulled the gun out and he had to shoot him. He felt like he had no choice," Johnson said.
Lou Pearlman, former boy band mogul, is also expected to testify after he told officers that during his time behind bars, Smith shared a description of the events.
Smith faces the death penalty if convicted.
