ORANGE COUNTY -- Arrests in a series of sexual attacks at several Central Florida water parks are putting the spotlight on a little-reported problem, and the parks are now working more closely with law enforcement to make sure their patrons are safe.
Police said sexual arrests ranging from grown men fondling themselves to rape have happened at Aquatica, Wet ‘n Wild and Typhoon Lagoon.
An Orange County crime prevention unit made a routine visit to SeaWorld Orlando Tuesday morning to help them improve efforts to quickly recognize problems and report them to the authorities.
Out of the last four incidents at local water parks, three arrests have been made, including the capture of a man accused of fondling himself at Typhoon Lagoon. So far, all of the victims have been teenage girls.
The incidents surprise visitors, but not law enforcement. They said incidents like these are an ongoing problem.
Incidents At Water Parks
- Typhoon Lagoon: Bradford Biggers was arrested July 11, accused of exposing himself to a teen. He was released on bond July 13.
- Typhoon Lagoon: Robert Double was arrested July 3, accused of molesting several girls at the water park while in the wave pool.
- Wet 'n Wild: A man is accused of raping a 14-year-old girl on June 21. He is still at large.
- Aquatica: Joshua Fuentes is accused of inappropriately touching three girls on June 27. He was arrested and has bonded out of jail.
“All too often and often enough, these things occur and we don't get notified,” said Jim Solomons from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. “The parents hear about these kinds of things, and by that time the bad guy is off in a crowd.”
A man accused of raping a 14-year-old girl at Wet ‘n Wild is still on the loose. If you have any information, you are asked to contact police.
