TAMPA -- Nick Schuyler's condition is improving after suffering hypothermia, mild dehydration and trauma to his knees, muscles and chest.
During a press conference Wednesday morning, Dr. Mark Rumbak of Tampa General Hospital told reporters Schuyler is in good condition, and is expected to be released from Intensive Care in the next few days.
Schuyler was rescued from a capsized boat in the Gulf of Mexico Monday, two days after he left on a fishing trip.
Schuyler is not showing any signs of brain damage, delusions or post traumatic stress, Rumbak said, adding his prognosis for a full recovery is excellent.
Tuesday, the U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search at sunset for the three remaining people, including two NFL football players.
“We've talked with the families of the three missing gentlemen and have informed them of that decision. The families have our utmost sympathies at this point. I encourage you all to be respectful of their privacy at this point," said Capt. Timothy Close from the Coast Guard.
The boat belongs to Oakland Raiders linebacker Marquis Cooper.
He, along with free-agent defensive lineman Corey Smith and former University of South Florida player William Bleakley, remain missing.
Meanwhile, the grandfather of Marquis Cooper spoke before a church prayer vigil in Mesa, Arizona Tuesday night.
Joseph Davis says the family is still optimistic that his grandson is still alive.
